This Book Won't Burn Book Review

Because books should never be able to be burned.

Note: Thanks to tbrandbeyondtours for this lovely opportunity!

It has been a while since I've done a written blog post, but of course, one of my favorite occasions to do them is when I participate with TBRandbeyondtours! I'm super happy to be able to join on a new book tour for Samira Ahmed's new book, this book won't burn and WOW what an explosive book it was!

So, here we go.

This Book Won’t Burn follows our main character Noor whose life gets upended after her father leaves one day and never comes back, leading to her mom taking them to a small, conservative town in Illinois where the local library starts to ban over 500 books from queer and POC books.

And sometimes, all you need alongside your rage is a spark to start a movement.

This book is definitely a must-read especially in our current times with more states banning books that are from queer or people of color books. Banning these books neglects the violent parts of our history, it tells kids that stories about queer people can’t belong here and it closes the door on worlds where we can find solace and belonging in a world that at times, make us feel like foreigners in our own skin. With quotes that stick with you until the end, students becoming activists against the book ban and a love triangle that will keep you guessing until the end, this book is sure to keep you hooked until the last page and maybe tear up a bit but it proves the beautiful narrative that this book is.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
