It's been a while since I've updated this blog but I am back to share onto a new YA psychological horror book you should all keep your eyes on. Influencer follows two perspectives:

  1. A teen serial killer looking for his next group of victims

  2. The girl who has uncovered his deadly secret.

And as we get to dive into the head of an actual sociopath who is obsessed with serial killers and in the creation of his cult of followers where he is known as the cryptic Speaker, he pulls people from across the world to his web of lies and where the murders start to pile up as well as the pressure to keep his hands clean...at any cost.

Will he get away with murder once again?

This book was actually quite intriguing to read because we know social media to be the hub where nearly everyone is in it and we all have influencers we follow, whose lives we are absolutely loving to see any and all updates from and sometimes we forget how addicting social media can be and how a person can have the power to influence people to do bad things too. It's a book that makes us stop and wonder just how obsessed are we with our social media apps and do we need to be seen by the world as "perfect" just to be considered by strangers as having the best life ever?

As someone who is chronically online and in the beat and pulse of things like the book community, music and the world of Formula 1, it can be hard to put my phone down and just exist without the world of technology and as a blogger, there are times when I don't post anything related to books and just candid shots of my life and the good things that have happened.

Do I always want to be up to date with what's happening in the world yes? Will I always achieve it? No, and that's okay.

Influencer teaches us how we strive to do so much for the approval of others that we forget ourselves, our health and our happiness and while we can share our joys and tragedies online, we ourselves, must be happy and content with who we are and the lives we live even if we don't have a million followers and sometimes, it's best to keep certain parts of your life away from the public eye for your own safety and sanity.

Nonetheless, it was a book I had not heard of until now that I read it and you all must to. Check out the Instagram post I made about it!

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
