The Atlas Paradox Book Review

Because Nicólas Ferrer De Varona is the sole reason I am still here.

Song Vibe Check:

  2. "Don Quixote" By: SEVENTEEN

  3. "Don't blame me" By: Taylor Swift

I remember the feeling of being extremely pissed after book 1 ended. There were too many things I disliked from it and honestly, the temptation to let that be my first 1/5 stars was overwhelming.

But Nicólas Ferrer De Varona is why I'm still here, particularly to see if the ship in mind will develop more.

So, here we go.

Short Summary: Five of the six scholars go through initiation and more scheming to understand their true purpose in the Society.

Long Summary: Here lies the current arcs of the main characters (and those dragged along for the ride!)

Libby: alive, but stuck in 1989 while trying to escape the time she is in, realizing eventually that the world just ought to burn because why not?

Nico: officially a bisexual disaster as he surprisingly becomes allied to Tristan, more distant with Reina, at arm's length with Callum (but not Parisa), desperately trying to find Libby while finding comfort in the other person he is risking everything for: Gideon.

Callum: humiliated by another version of himself in initiation and now on a downward spiral as he tries to find some purpose in his seemingly meaningless existence.

Reina: finally angry at people instead of the usual apathy while discovering she may be a god actually.

Parisa: drifting between helping Dalton out and discovering the bigger hands pulling the strings in their stay at the Society.

Tristan: running with a dying wish and perhaps more desperate than Nico in trying to get Libby back.

Atlas: In big trouble for once.

Dalton: Also in trouble, but for different reasons.

Gideon: the precious dreamwalker was the true MVP in this book.

And so, as soon as we hit the Interlude chapter, it's like everything jolts to life and we go from 0 to 100 relatively quickly with an ending that as it was fulfilling also left me tossing and turning at night because now I just need it to be next year. It started slow, but remained much better than the last book and the ending was great (although the cliffhanger left many more questions too.)

But truly, I was left speechless at how this book got me more invested to see what last shenanigans will occur and who will actually die in the end (as well as who will be able to get a happy ending.) Needless to say, I got the kiss I needed.

Overall: 4/5 stars
