Colorful books, if done right, are GREAT for attracting my attention and when I first saw the cover of Revelle in all its beautiful and dizzying glory with the reflections of our two characters, I knew it was going to catch my attention. as soon as I read it was taking place in the prohibition era, I was in. This book was pitched as if it were Moulin Rouge, but it should have also mentioned some Great Gatsby vibes and if this would have been a movie, I would likely sign up to watch it. Now, onto the madness. Short Summary: The main performer with a hidden talent accidentally charms a boy with a tragic past instead of charming the bootlegger that can save her family's crumbling business and the more she charms both boys, the more the lines blur.

Long Summary: Lux Revelle never wanted to be the main star of the show. That belonged to her cousin, Colette. But since she's the only one in her big family who can charm people for the longest without causing jewels to crumble as quickly, it is her duty to charm the resident bootlegger, Dewey Chronos to give them liquor for a cheap price-- or else her family business will crumble.

Jamison Port is trying to discover what happened to his parents. But being friends with a disgraced daughter of the Chronos family and with a bubbly Revelle member, he ends up at the entertainment club the Revelles run and a twist of fate lands him to meeting Lux.

Lux, who he believes is his destined love.

And for her, she believed the enigmatic young man to be Dewey Chronos, without knowing that she mistook him for the real Dewey, who has a deal of his own to present to her.

If Lux helps charm the people of Charmant into electing Dewey as mayor, she can keep her family afloat. All she has to do is act like she's in love with Dewey all while making sure her hidden talents don't get revealed.

But in between charming Dewey, the target she must keep on good graces and Jamison who makes her think that love may be possible, the line starts to blur and she must make a choice:

Save her family or rescue herself from making an even bigger mistake.

It was dizzying like a carousel moving too fast at first, but once you get used to the magic and how it works, it makes more sense. Dewey does a great job of being the goody guy right up until the end and Jamison falling stupidly in love with Lux was hilarious, but endearing for me and I definitely enjoyed this book. I definitely do plan to read more of this author and whatever she chooses to do next because she definitely charmed me enough to keep my interest.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
