Lost in Taiwan book review

Because getting lost sometimes means finding yourself.

To celebrate a new book tour event with @tbrbeyondtours I am here to share a bit about Lost in Taiwan, an entertaining graphic novel that flew by my hands as I read along.

Short summary: Paul, the resident reluctant kid to see new places gets lost in Taiwan when the search for a new Nintendo device goes wrong.

Long summary: Paul has lots of friends. Well, more like lots of Online friends, but being in a foreign country tagging along with his older brother Theo who is teaching English for the summer, Taiwan seems like the one place that Paul doesn’t want to get to know better. Until one of his online friends suggests he tries to get the Nintendo swoop. Located in a store very far from where Paul is staying. And as he sets off to get a new Nintendo, he doesn’t expect to get lost. Or for his phone to fall in water. Or to not know his way back or know the language. Until he meets Paige who might not only know the way back, but might also teach Paul a few lessons about life in Taiwan that will change him forever.

This takes place over the course of a day and while we dive straight into the action, I liked how we got to feel the dizzying amount of wacky misadventures that Paul has. The character arc was a bit rushed for the characters and while I would have wanted to see more of Theo and their dad who sent Paul away to go with his brother, it was still a light, fun read!

Overall: 4/5 stars
